I created a series of emails to help the American Transplant Foundation raise money through end-of-year donations. The series kicked off on Colorado Gives Day and ran through the end of December.

Every day, 17 people die waiting for a transplant.
Many people can’t work while they wait for an organ. Medical bills, rent, utility bills and other expenses can stack up.
The American Transplant Foundation provides direct financial assistance so no one has to make the hard decision between paying for lifesaving medications and their basic needs.
Receiving a grant was a big difference for Tanya. As a schoolteacher, Tanya could not work for three months after her transplant. But she had to keep a roof over her son’s head and food on the table. All while paying for her new expensive medication.
Because of donors like you, Tanya received a grant that helped alleviate the burden of some of those costs. With additional financial support, Tanya could keep taking the medication that would help her keep her new lifesaving organ and also continue to care for her son before she went back to work.
Today is Colorado Gives Day, a day when people across the state give where they live! You can make a difference for other mothers and people like Tanya. Please donate today. Your generous gift will ensure no one dies while waiting for a transplant.

High quality medical care before and after a transplant is critical. Many patients have to cover the cost of relocating temporarily to be closer to a transplant center that can provide the care they need.
Reshaun, his girlfriend and young son live in the small town of Texarkana, Texas. Living on a fixed income while Reshaun waited for a lung transplant was a financial challenge. Then the situation got harder. Before his transplant, Reshaun had to relocate to Houston and stay there for 90 days after his surgery. The cost of changing cities as well as paying for temporary housing, while keeping their home in Texarkana caused even greater financial hardship for the family.
Thanks to the generosity of donors like you, American Transplant Foundation provided a grant to Reshaun. The direct financial assistance helped him cover expenses for both homes and ensure Reshaun could have access to high-quality care through his entire transplant journey.
We’ve given grants to over 150 people like Reshaun in the past year. Now you can help us do more. A year-end gift of $200, $500 or $1,000 can help ensure everyone can maintain their lifesaving organ and get the transplant care they need.

Subject line: No one should take their transplant journey alone

Does anyone understand what I’m going through?
It’s a question people who need transplants often wonder. No matter how supportive a family is, how informative doctors are, how much research one does on the internet, the journey of receiving a transplant can often feel lonely.
American Transplant Foundations’ 1+1=LIFE Mentorship Program lets recipients and donors know they are not alone. Mentors give guidance, answer questions and provide support at every stage of the process.
While Trey was waiting for his kidney transplant, he connected with a mentor.
“When you are going through the transplant process, your doctors and health care providers, as good as they are, can only give you part of the story. There are certain questions that only someone who has actually been through the process can answer. American Transplant Foundation’s mentorship program fills that information gap. My mentor was able to answer questions and provide feedback based on his experience that helped answer questions and ease concerns. This program should be considered a requirement for anyone going through the transplant process,” said Trey.
Mentors are one way we support transplant recipients and donors. This additional layer of support combined with direct financial assistance, a potential living donor database and advocacy to create better policies for the transplant community are all part of what we do. Together this work takes us one step closer to making sure no one dies waiting for a transplant.
With your generous support we can do more. Every day 17 people die waiting for a transplant. Better access to high quality care, financial relief and supportive guidance can reduce that to zero. Help us get there. Help us make sure no one dies while waiting for a transplant.

Preheader text: Your donation saves lives like Insang’s

For many transplant recipients, their surgery is only one part of their journey. The financial cost of follow-up appointments and medications can often make what should be a joyful moment, stressful.
After Insang received his kidney transplant, medical expenses began to pile up. For a senior, on a fixed income, Insang and his wife struggled to make ends meet with their meager savings.
A grant from American Transplant Foundation gave Insang the relief he needed. With his direct payment, he caught up on his medical bills and reduced his financial stress.
You still have time to make a year-end gift to save someone like lnsang. Generous donors like you are how we have helped over 100 people in the past year. Now you can help us support more people. A year-end gift of $200, $500 or $1,000 can help ensure every person can maintain their lifesaving organ.
